Healthy chips with salsa and guacamole

Make your own healthy tortilla
chips with salsa and guacamole for a guilt-free appetiser. With less than 200
calories per serve, it’s a great alternative to Doritos and fattier,
store-bought dips.
Here’s what you need to do…
(To serve 8)
Salsa (33 calories)
Start by preparing the salsa- for
the best flavour, it needs to be refrigerated for at least 12 hours before
serving.
What you’ll need
- 3 cups diced tomato (canned or
fresh)

1 small onion, finely diced

1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely diced

1/4 cup fresh cilantro
-
2 garlic cloves, diced
-
Juice from 1/2 a lime
-
1/2 tsp salt
Directions
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl.
- Cover and let sit in the fridge for
at least 12 hours to let the flavours mix properly.
Tortilla chips (100 calories)
What you’ll need
- 12 6-inch
corn tortillas
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- Salt to taste
Directions
- Heat oven
to around 200 degrees C.
- Lightly
coat both sides of each tortilla with the oil, using a pastry brush.
- Stack the
tortillas and cut them into quarters, then spread them out on a lightly greased
baking tray. Sprinkle salt evenly across them.
- Bake for
12-15 minutes until crisp and golden!
Guacamole (54 calories)
What you'll need...
- 1 medium Hass avocado
- 1/4 cup onion, diced
- 1/2 jalapeno pepper, seeded and diced
- 2 tbsp cilantro, chopped
- 1/4 cup tomato, chopped
- Juice of 1/2 a lime
- Salt to taste
Directions
- Cut the avocado in half and remove
pit. Scoop the pulp out into a bowl.
- Mash the avocado pulp with a fork until it’s smooth. Squeeze the lime juice
over it to stop it from turning brown.
- Mix in the onion, jalapeno, tomato
and cilantro. Gradually add in salt to taste.
Serve together and enjoy!
